Children’s Support – Our Unicorn Project
Supporting the Children
Bereavement is a normal feature of growing up but some bereavements cause disruption and are different from anything else young people have experienced.
Research shows that children can often become lost in their bereavement-causing life changing consequences and those who experience bereavement alongside other difficulties are statistically more likely to experience negative outcomes later in life.
However, by providing the right, honest information children can start to make sense of what has happened.
The 3 year funding made available to St David’s by BBC Children in Need has given us the opportunity to develop The Unicorn Project, the project is unique in this area and provides ways to understand a child’s way of expressing grief and know how to help them understand and cope with the various reactions they will experience.
Thank you for all your help and support during my late husband's illness. Without you, I don't think I would have coped
